Johanna Agnew, LPC
Licensed in Pennsylvania and Delaware
Throughout my own identity development, work had to be done around reframing the noise of what I was "supposed to do and be like" vs. how I experienced myself in this world. I have worked as a therapist in Philadelphia for over a decade. With the thousands of clients I have had the pleasure to work alongside, a major theme surrounding their depression and anxiety has been in the inability to meet self-imposed and societal expectations around who they are, what they want out of their relationships, and fear of judgment of choices.

One of the greatest sources of distress and unhappiness comes from the inability to attach and experience full authenticity in our relationships. Whether the relationships are family based, interpersonal, or intimate; the ability to openly communicate and achieve safety is a major key to mental and emotional fulfillment. However, generational, complex, and individual traumas can impact how we function in our lives and relationships. Therapy with me allows you and/or your partner to build healthy skills to communication, heal, and begin to rebuild your story. I have several years' experience working with substance use disorders, navigating large managed care systems, depression, anxiety, adjustments/major life transitions, and burnout.
As a part of my own self-care, I love being with my rescue Pitbulls and taking them on adventures. I love being active and have found personal mental & physical healing in CrossFit and Powerlifting, practicing tarot, and exploring astrology. I enjoy exploring all the diverse foods Philly has to offer.
